Keeping Kingdom Connections

Facebook is a place where joy goes to die, quite often. Social media in general isn’t an overly joyful place. However, every once in a while, I LOVE it.
Photos like this are the reason why. We are so spread out that keeping up with the folks from my book becomes easier through social media. Robert Norton shared a GREAT photo of him and John Joyce this week.
John is in the BLESSING chapter of FJBTH. He and Robert have a VERY special bond. I met them both a few years ago when John was cutting Robert's lawn and making incredible personal sacrifices to do so. He walked for miles in the Florida heat just to cut the grass. Nobody knew! Robert thought John was driving around his old truck, which was actually broken beyond repair. Robert and his wife, Nikki, helped raise enough money to get John a new one! It was one of my favorite TV stories of my career.
I emailed back and forth with Robert this week about his recent visit with John.
“When I spoke to him in December he was depressed and in a lot of pain,” wrote Robert. “This time he was much more happy and energetic. Other than his legs getting weaker, he is feeling better. He said he was "just plugging away, it's all I can do." But he just stopped by to say hello. I told him he can come and sit on our front porch and talk any time he's lonely or bored.”
What a BLESSING! These are the stories that bring JOY to all of us. The people God puts in our paths are special. I've heard them described as Kingdom Connections. Keep them strong! We were made to live in community. We were made to be each other's support system.
When we embrace what we were made for, God's glory gets shared in droves.

John is almost 89 now. I pray for good health for you, John! God Bless.
