"...JOY comes in the morning"

It's the New Year! Welcome to 2019. January 1 is like the first page of a brand new book. So much potential! So much excitement! We start off fresh and have hopes and dreams for a bigger, better year ahead...

But, sometimes the pains, disappointments, and uncertainties from the previous year ride with us into the next one. That means for many of us, the hope that we want to feel requires some wrestling.

Look at Psalm 30. I read it this morning and it is encouraging for anyone seeking JOY in a new calendar. It's a song of thanksgiving from King David. He's praising God for getting him to a place of peace and rest. He's encouraging others to praise God as well during their times of trouble.

“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” - PSALM 30:5 (NLT)

Perhaps you’re going through a rough patch in your search for JOY. It’s slipping right through your fingers, it seems. Maybe it feels just out of reach. I'm here to encourage you to be PATIENT in your pursuit.

Back up a few books and we learn from Psalm 27:14 we need to be "brave and courageous" while we wait patiently on the Lord. Joy isn’t as elusive as you think. If you can't see a path to joy, you’re giving evil way too much credit. Joy is available to all who seek it and it is found in our Source of all #GoodNews.

In 2019, if you're looking for more joy, trust that God has the answer for you this year. Seek Him and you’ll find what you’re chasing.

I pray that the next 12 months, and far beyond 2019, you find the joy that seek in Christ Jesus.
